They are engineered to withstand the immense strain on the wrists of elite U.S. Navy pilots – be it during daily use in the confined jet cockpit or during months-long deployments on the aircraft carrier. The Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII TOP GUN Edition “SFTI” is the civilian version of the special military edition IWC launched in 2018 and which is available exclusively to graduates of the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School. These pilots have completed the rigorous TOPGUN course and are now allowed to use the title “Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor”.
Like the military-exclusive version, this model features a case made of extremely hard and scratch-resistant black zirconium oxide ceramic and a black dial. Thanks to the luminous coating, the time can be read at a glance, even at night. A soft-iron inner case effectively shields the movement from the effects of magnetic fields. The iconic “TOP GUN” logo can be found on the dial at 9 o’clock and is also engraved on the Grade 5 titanium case back. The watch is fitted with an olive-green textile strap. The annual production of the Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII TOP GUN Edition “SFTI” is limited to 750 pieces.
